Sequel to a tanker accident on Kara Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which claimed two lives on Sunday, the Federal Ministry of Works said the road will be shut down for integrity tests.

A letter addressed to the government of Lagos State and signed by the Deputy Director, Highways, Federal Ministry of Works, K.Y. Ibrahim, sought state support for the job ‘s success.

Ibrahim said that the contractor running that portion of the expressway had demanded that the bridge be shut down from Friday to Sunday to assess the “serviceability status of the bridge after the fire incident”

“We are now calling for the Lagos State Government’s support in dealing with the expected high volume of traffic that can be generated along the axis during the work and also in helping to evacuate the accident wreckage still on site,” the letter said.
